MY INTERVIEW WITH HARRY WHITTAKER
1. What has been your role here at Berean?
Three years ago I was asked to become a deacon and shortly after God led me to become the Facilities Coordinator. In that role, I was responsible for the building & grounds of the church. A number of people volunteered to help me in these areas.
2. What are a few of building & grounds accomplishments in the last three years?
We bought and remodeled a shed for our church lawn equipment. We rebuilt the pie sign out front. We put windows in all the classroom doors. We refurbished the wall carpeting in the gym. We also created several new offices and replaced a lot of light bulbs!
3. You just stepped down as facilities coordinator. Can you tell us why and what God is calling you to now?
As far as I know, there are no major projects to be done. After attending the “Sharing your Faith” workshop, I felt called to go into outreach ministry. I would like to continue doing outreach in local neighborhoods and at Binghamton University. I am now exploring places to go and share my faith through conversations and tracts.
I wanted everyone to hear Harry’s story, because I believe he is on a journey. This journey has led him from one major role to another here at Berean! He saw some facility needs three years ago, and with a servant’s heart he stepped up to the plate and made a major difference in this church. Now he sees major needs in our community, and with that same servant’s heart is stepping up to the plate. He desires to share the Good News with the lost. My heart skips a beat as I watch him become a local missionary! I believe God is going to use him in amazing ways!
…by the way, I look forward to seeing how God will use YOU!
